Process Engineer – cable & connectors
Location: Valley Green, PA
Our High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for developing plans, designing, coordinating, tracking, qualifying, and implementing assembly processes that meet cost and output objectives as well as customer needs. Responsible for all aspects related to the design, operability, and performance of newly designed or existing assembly processes/tooling, their modifications, and related Documentation. Process engineering focuses on early involvement with the product design and development team to influence design characteristics for better manufacturing efficiency and reliability. It also aims to maintain and improve existing manufacturing processes. Develop and document assembly tooling for new/existing products. Involves creating concepts, estimating and quoting of tools, design, build, and validation of tooling.
• Formulate the process step cycle times, efficiencies, yields, and step relationships to include dynamic modeling as required for process and line balance assumptions. (Arrangement, Rates, Balance, Yield, Utility, Capacity)
• Involved in Product/Process FMEA and risk assessment activities.
• Define critical product/process parameters.
• Evaluate the Safety and Occupational Health summary for the process.
• Develop cost and operational justifications for the acquisition of major tooling.
• Propose and implement cost reduction activities for mature assembly processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from a four-year university with 4+ years related experience and/or training within the connector industry, preferred;
• Experience with automation (connector preferred) in a production environment
• Should have knowledge and skills using:
o Design software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, Creo)
o Project Management software
o Spreadsheet software (Excel)
o Word Processing software (Word)
o Presentation software (PowerPoint)
o Machine Programming and Machine Vision knowledge is a plus
• Ability to provide technical design and process information relating to product manufacturability, process and design costs, process risk assessment, and product capability assessment.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Root cause analysis.
