Job Title: Sr. Product Engineer / Sr. Design Engineer / San Diego, CA 


Responsible for design, development and product engineering of electrical connectors, interconnect assemblies & modules, and other related products, utilizing injection molding, metal stamping, and automation technologies. Assist in winning new business by creative and innovative design, and manufacturing knowledge.



·       Lead design, development and engineering of connector-related and other products to meet customer and internal requirements*

·       Perform CAD design, make materials selection, complete design analyses, and manage validation testing*

·       Perform stack-up analyses, set linear and GD&T tolerances, and select critical-to-quality dimensions*

·       Manage product metrology requirements and data; disposition first article inspections, make decisions on discrepant dimensions and characteristics, and lead creation of tool correction plans*

·       Provide sustaining engineering support for in-production products*

·       Lead creation of DFMEA’s, and develop, plan and execute test plans for new products, as required*

·       Create and maintain sales and production drawings and specifications*

·       Develop test procedures, gauge requirements, and quality standards with corporate quality and plant quality personnel

·       Lead design for manufacturability and assembly efforts by interfacing with customers, manufacturing engineer(s), quality engineer(s), vendors, and production personnel*

·       Assist in cost analysis and cost reduction initiatives

·       Actively support ISO, IATF, and other compliance programs, as required, and champion the use of procedures in Engineering

·       Prepare and/or direct the preparation of all documentation for new products

·       Assist Sales, Product Management and Marketing in obtaining new business

·       Visit customers, suppliers and Company manufacturing sites on an as-needed basis



·       BS Degree, or higher, in Engineering*

·       Able to read, interpret, and understand complex drawings*

·       Proficient in creating 3D solid models and detailed 2D drawings using CAD, while being highly computer literate in general*

·       Thorough understanding of GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups*

·       Experience in automotive industry preferred

·       Experience in design of molded plastic parts and small precision metal parts*

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills in English*

·       Experience in electrical interconnect, or related industry, preferred

·       Experience with high-speed progressive stamping dies, and horizontal and vertical injection molding preferred

·       Able to perform all necessary calculations to ensure correct design and levels of engineering performance are met, including, but not limited to, stresses, strains, deflection, kinematics, trigonometry, and basic statics and dynamic*

·       Good, clear and concise presentation skills; able to effectively present information, and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors, and other Company personnel*
