 Sr. Quality Consultant -  Components -  mil-aero – Southern CA


 

A pioneer and major provider of aerospace and defense components  has been on the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Qualified Product List (QPL) for Aerospace and Defense Mil-Spec connectors for several years.  Recently, the company was removed from the QPL.  The Company is planning to get back on the QPL.  The tasks of getting back on the QPL include preparing for a DLA audit, successfully passing the DLA audit,  and completing qualification testing.  The activities span over two facilities- Irvine, CA and Nogales, Mexico.

 

Job responsibilities This is a part time consultant position with significant activities (20-30 hour per week) in the next 6 months and reduced efforts (5-20 hours per week) in the following 18 months.  [A full time, longer term position may be considered for a right candidate].  The job responsibilities include

 

·        Work with the QPL Program Team that is managing the QPL re-entry project and guide the team thru successful execution.

·        Review the Company’s efforts to re-enter QPL program, assess gaps and help bridge the gaps.

·        Interact with Company leadership - communicate risk elements and a path forward in eliminating risks.

·        Interact with DLA in executing the QPL reentry efforts and help build a collaborative relationship between DLA and the Company.

·        Provide guidance on DLA work processes, QPL program requirements, and develop a plan for the company to stay on the QPL.

 

Qualifications:

·        15 years of experience working in DLA office in a position of responsibility. Preferably, a person who has held senior management positions in the DLA organization

·        Knowledge of the QPL program, the QPL Program Requirement and DLA expectations is essential

·        Direct applicable experience in connectors qualification/QPL program management is preferred.

 

Travel expectations: 25%-30%.  3-5 visits to Irvine and Nogales factories, each, over the next 4-6 months period.  Visit to DLA office as needed.
