Vice President, Sales (Americas)

A global manufacture of electrical components for the aerospace and defense markets. Is seeking a Vice President of Sales to be based from it’s California location.


The VP of Sales will be responsible for managing the for the Americas and will drive profitable sales growth for all of the  business units in North and South America.


                      This hands-on role will lead the American sales force to achieve the sales growth.


·              Drive profitable top line growth in North and South America for all  business units.

·              Develop balanced growth plans for both small accounts and keyaccounts.

·              Develop up-selling strategies that will balance commodity and componentsales with opportunities to move up to custom components andassemblies.

·              Work closely with Product Management and Engineering on custom design and new product opportunities/launches as well as the development of fast tomarket capabilities:

·              Manage negotiations with key accounts. Work closely with Product management and Finance to ensure profitablegrowth.

·              Work closely with key distributors to develop a competitive advantagethrough sales channels. This will include broad component channels, value added retailers, and nichechannels.

·              Drive the evolution of the field sales force into a unit that can sell the complete set of connectors, accessories, custom products and assemblies across harsh environment markets. The sales force should be able to easily integrate new products developed internally as well as any portfolio gained throughacquisition.

·              Evolve the  Inside Sales and Customer servicegroup into a single team capable of supporting the full portfolio. Direct  the team  between the Inside Sales and Field Sales groups. Lever the Latin American team  to free up USA based resources to focus on profitable salesgrowth.

·              Provide accurate and timely sales reporting including sales by individual, PointOf Sale reports, sales funnel tracking, bookings and billings. Utilize CRM systems and work closely with IT and other groups to ensure that we have accurate and useful new business opportunitytracking.

·              Provide forecasts for both near and long terms by product line and saleschannel. Work with the Operations and Planning groups to help with capacityplanning.




·              BS or equivalent.  MBA and/or BS in Engineering is aplus.

·              10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Sales Management. Strong preference for experience in the interconnectindustry.








·              Experience in the Aerospace industry with first-hand knowledge of Boeingand/or Airbus expectations is aplus.

·              5+ years' experience in senior level salesmanagement

·              Demonstrated ability to sell across multiple harsh environment marketsincluding Military, and Aerospace and at least one of the following markets: Medical, Industrial, Alternate Energy, orTransportation

·              Demonstrated ability to sell at multiple value levels ranging fromcommodity components to custom products to assemblies, or engineeredsolutions

·              Demonstrated ability to sell through multiple channels includingdistribution, manufacturer’s representatives and directsales

·              Experience in building successful and high performing sales teams includingboth inside and field salespersonnel

·              Ability to meet ITAR requirements and handle ITAR documents andtechnical data

·              Ability to work with CRM and sales managementsystems

·              Experience with Planning systems andmethodologies

·              Able to represent the company with clients and promote the companyimage, including when handling delicatematters

·              Experience selling custom components andassemblies

·              Experience in new product development, product management orprogram management of electro-mechanical products and/orassemblies

·              Change managementskills.

·              Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-time zoneenvironment

·              Ability to work effectively in an environment where tact, sensitivity,respect, tenacity, persuasive ability, and decisiveness are required forsuccess.

·              Knowledge of LEAN concepts and the drive for continuous improvement is aplus

·              Must be able to understand the urgency and priorities of situations as theyarise and implement appropriate timely responses. Must also be able to adapt to changing priorities and stretchtargets.

·              Results oriented with a focus on achieving overall businessobjectives

·              Ability to speak and/or read/write in Spanish and/or French is aplus

·              Ability and willingness to travel >50% throughout the Americas territories aswell as toFrance
